Sight of Another Kind by *IUBgrad:iconIUBgrad:

The words
long written
down: utterance
of promise
envisioned, anticipated,
desired....
delayed, deferred,
locked
in perpetual
abeyance....
yet ever,
ever held,
species of
hope
no despair
may dislodge.

Fulfillment of this
particular peculiar
haunting foresight
lingers
in long
gestation.

Fear stakes claims
of triumph
upon apparent
abject absence
of signs, of
wonders to herald
yearned-for
arrival.

Yet with gentlest
of breezes
worlds may
be changed,
course may be
altered, nudging
you imperceptibly
closer to what
awaits your
embrace.

Prophecy
steps over border
from ethereal
to actual
with movements
not often
detectable
to eyes such
as ours,
"eyes that
have never
seen a unicorn,"
eyes without aid
of light
radiating from
prophetic prayer.

Sight of
another kind:
necessary to see
footprints
of the wandering
dance toward
satisfaction
of this
long
lingering
thirst;
but seen
or unseen,
on goes
the dance.

This started with the reflection on a line from a Johnny Cash song, which found its way into opening of this poem. There is also a quote from _The Last Unicorn_ (the movie, at least; I've never actually read the novel...), which will probably be pretty obvious. There's also a Biblical reference but I don't know if that will be as clear (at least not which scene in the Bible it's referring to...).

Having said all that, this comes from a lot of personal reflection that's been going on inside my mind recently, about what I believe and just what are the things in life I hope for.

I really like this one, it doesn't wander off like, no offense, some of your others tend to do
the last 4 lines speak to me, as if that makes sense
very good

Dear future,
I bought you, I own the rights,
to let go, destroy you,
this is my life.

Thanks; I'm glad you like it and can relate to it. No offense taken; I suspect most of my poems wander off to some degree...

I can relate to this section of the poem a little... my life is changing, albeit, slowly but it's taken the slightest of nudges to get my arse moving... ;P

Beautiful poem by the way :D

You always manage to describe feelings so well! You are choosing so wonderful words for your poem that whenever I'm reading one of them, I feel like I'm actually inside...somewhere in your mind :)
